Ephesus is the first church that Christ personally addresses.  The scripture details the strengths and weaknesses of the church. 

They are exhorted to keep their first love and to repent of their erring ways.  Christ tells the church "He that hath an ear,

let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life,

which in in the midst of the paradise of God."
